Cocktails at the Castle is a community celebration filled with non-stop art, music, food and drink plus exploration inspired by ASI’s new exhibition of paintings by the acclaimed Swedish artist, Karin Broos.

In September, all are welcome to ASI when the ladies rule the Castle, celebrating women in all their glory – women artists, musicians, craftspeople, and especially Karin Broos, whose paintings of women are showcased in ASI’s current Still Life: Karin Broos exhibition. Broos’ deeply personal portraits show unassuming, modern women, immortalized in paint and thus made extraordinary.

Performance is a highlight with Lady Midnight, former lead vocalist of Malamanya; Lady Lark, the playful and slinky local pop/soul star-to-be; DJ Keezy, named best Club DJ by City Pages; and pop-up dance by Kaleena Miller Dance, founder of Rhythmic Circus.

Shop for good at the My Sister pop-up shop, see “women’s work” in a flower installation by Foxglove Market and Studio, admire the skillful craftwork of Women’s Woodshop, and liberate your inner artist at the Mansion’s gallery drawing stations. And, of course, sip delicious cocktails crafted for this signature event and sample the fine food from FIKA.

Planning Ahead

  • All members of your party must be 21 years of age or older and show valid ID to enter the event.
