Intro. to Scandinavian Wooden Figure Carving with Bill Jaeger

Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - 10:00am to 4:00pm

This class will be rescheduled for later in the year, please check back for more information when it becomes available or email Info@ASImn.org to express your interest in registering.

Get started in this popular Nordic handcraft by taking a one-day workshop with American Swedish Institute's popular Scandinavian wooden figure carving instructor, Bill Jaeger.

This beginning class offers a chance to get an overview of carving and to try your hand at a simple project, with additional attention from Bill.

The ASI also offers longer, 13-session classes beginning the week of September 11, 2017, with many participants returning year after year, in a pleasant carving community. Beginners may attend these classes, but may find they need additional initial instruction. Find out in this introductory session, if the longer sessions are something you'd like to pursue, or just get a taste for the craft.

Participants carve in the Scandinavian style using the instructor’s original work as a basis. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Students must have adequate hand dexterity and control. If you have questions about what is needed, please ask your instructor on the first day of class.

Carving tools are required, and available for purchase in class. Beginning carving kits are $65 and include a carving knife, glove and one figure blank; materials fees are payable to the instructor.
