Watercolor Basics: Favorite Objects From the ASI Collection

In this one-day workshop, you’ll be introduced to basic watercolor technique as you create a painting of an object selected from ASI’s historic collection. Create an original work of art to celebrate the beauty of everyday things with artist Tara Sweeney, co-illustrator of A to Zåäö An Illustrated Guide To ASI’s Collection

Instructor

Saint Paul teaching artist and writer Tara Sweeney has been creating with watercolor for nearly forty years. Close to Home: Sketching a Minnesota Year, is her debut collection of illustrated creative nonfiction. She is an ASI resident artist creating a picture book, A to Zåäö An Illustrated Guide To ASI’s Collection, with her son Nate Christopherson. After 25 years she recently retired from teaching drawing and painting for Augsburg College. She holds undergraduate degrees in studio art, and textile design from the University of Wisconsin, and an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
