Craft several of your own bowls out of green, freshly cut wood as you learn how to operate an electric lathe in this two-day course. Students will learn about the process from start to finish, including the best type of wood to use, how to identify the ideal parts of a tree for a bowl, detailed lathe handling skills, and drying techniques. This workshop is intended for all levels, and is taught by professional wood turner Jim Sannerud. Sannerud has more than 25 years of woodworking experience, including a number of study trips to Sweden.
This workshop costs $170 for ASI members and $195 for nonmembers, and includes all tools and materials. Students can purchase lunch from the ASI café, or plan to bring a bag lunch. Advance registration is required, and space is limited.
