Youth Language Instructor

The American Swedish Institute is looking for Youth Language Instructors for Svenska Skolan classes. Classes are held on-site on Saturday mornings at ASI. The Svenska Skolan program is a language and cultural program for students aged 6-12. Our youth instructors provide opportunities for young learners to develop not only their Swedish language skills but also understand and appreciate Swedish culture. We are looking for Swedish instructors with a minimum of 2-years language instruction and ability to connect and engage with young people.

  • Part-time position: 4 hours per week
  • Pay Rate: $28/per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Language Instructor is responsible for developing students’ language ability and cultural competency that is appropriate for each course level by using various teaching methods that engage students of all learning styles. The Youth Language Instructor will work in our Svenska Skolan program which meets on Saturday mornings throughout the academic year. Svenska Skolan is a language and culture program for students aged 6-12 to learn or practice their Swedish.

Virtual Swedish Language Instructor: Adults

The American Swedish Institute is looking for a Language Instructor to teach Swedish to adult learners through our virtual classroom programming. Our language instructors provide opportunities for learners to develop not only their Swedish language skills but also to understand and appreciate Swedish culture. Virtual classes are set in Central Time Zones. We are looking for Swedish language instructors with a minimum of 2-years language instruction and who are comfortable teaching students virtually. We are using Zoom for our virtual programming. 

  • Position Status: Part-time 4 hours per week with potential to add more hours in the future.
  • Pay Rate: $28/per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

As part of the Adult Program Education team, the Part-Time Language Instructor is responsible for ensuring that students master both the language and cultural competency that is appropriate for each course level by using various teaching methods that engage students of all learning styles. At this time, we are specifically looking for an instructor to teach virtually. The instructor is not required to live in the Twin Cities, but please note that all classes take place in Central Time.
