FREE to view online and outside on ASI’s Park Avenue fence.
Explore fifteen portraits from Swedish Dads, the photographs series by Johan Bävman which can be viewed online at ASImn.org and also outside along ASI’s historic fence on Park Avenue. Swedish Dads draws from Bävman’s portraits of 45 dads who belong to the relatively small percentage of Swedish men who, with Sweden's generous parental leave policies, choose to stay at home with their children for six months or longer. Bävman examines why these fathers opted to stay at home and how the relationships with their children and their partners changed as a result. At a time when many parents have found themselves at home with their children more than ever before, Swedish Dads contributes to the ongoing discussion around gender equality and parenting. Text is provided in four languages: Swedish, Somali, Spanish and English.
