ASI's Response to COVID-19

(As of April 1, 2020)

Dear American Swedish Institute Friend:

Due to ongoing concerns for public safety related to the COVID-19 virus and in regards to the well-being of our community, visitors, staff and volunteers, the American Swedish Institute has closed to the public until further notice. This temporary closure includes the Museum and Nelson Cultural Center, including FIKA Café and the ASI Museum Store.  In addition, we have cancelled all in-person programs until at least May 31, this unfortunately includes the popular Easter Egg Hunt and other related activities. But we are happy to report that we are beginning on-line Language Classes the week of April 6 via the Zoom program and are taking registrations now!

We thank you for your understanding and suppport as we continue to closely monitor and respond to this health crisis as it rapidly evolves. We do not take this decision lightly and realize the impact it has on staff, our partner organizations and patrons who would normally visit here. Because we remain committed to being a welcoming place for all, ASI staff and leadership are working to determine ways that we can serve the public while still ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons during this challenging time. We recommend that patrons and the public continue to practise social distancing and shelter at home, while following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and the Minnesota Department of Health. We will also post up-to-date information on ASI activities on our website, social media sites and notify patrons directly as needed.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Info@ASImn.org.

Sincerely and on behalf of the American Swedish Institute,

Bruce Karstadt
