Family Gallery - Water, sky and me

Feb 28, 2020 to Jul 05, 2020

Dress up like creatures of the ocean or relax in imaginary outer space – in this newly installed Family Gallery we can all play, learn and tell our own stories about the world around us.

Water, sky and me was developed and designed in collaboration with Swedish illustrator and author, Stina Wirsén and features original illustrations and artwork by the artist created especially for you and ASI. Stina is known for a range of popular children’s books including the Brokiga and Vem series. She commented, "I have kept quite a few of my earliest efforts, and in my recent work I see a return to my childhood sketches."

About Stina Wirsén

Ever since graduation from the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in 1992, Stina Wirsén has worked as a professional illustrator. Today, she is one Sweden’s best-known illustrators and she has written and illustrated many children's books and animations as well as illustrated for various fashion brands, department stores, newspaper and magazines, restaurants and commercial advertising campaigns. She has been granted many awards like the Expressen’s Heffaklump Award for children’s literature; the Elsa Beskow Plaque; Nordiska Tecknare’s Award; Svenska Tecknare’s Kolla! Award and was nominated for the August Award in 2005.

“The watercolour art of Stina Wirsén is a pas-de-deux between the poetic, yet comparatively exact ink line and the abundant blooming of the watercolour surfaces.”  —Håkan Bull, Akvarellen magazine
