We Are the Story - Quilts Exhibition

Sep 08, 2020 to Nov 01, 2020

ASI will host We Are the Story, a series of multi-site, juried quilt exhibitions that builds upon symbols of liberation, resistance and empowerment, offering a visually compelling account of the breadth of experiences and struggles that comprise Black history in an honest and critical way.

The initiative, curated by Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi and organized by Women of Color Quilters Network and the Textile Center, explores the themes of police brutality and racism in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd.

Other host venues include the Weisman Art Museum, the Division of Indian Work, Homewood Studios, the Merchandising and Design Gallery at St. Catherine’s University and Studio 106 with a culminating exhibition at the University of Minnesota’s Katherine E. Nash Gallery in 2021.
