Wednesday, November 13: Karen Jenson, Master Rosmaling Artist

  • Eighty-three-year-old Karen Jenson from Milan, Minnesota, began rosmaling in 1972 and took classes from Sigmund Aarseth at the Vesterheim Museum in Decorah, Iowa. Karen’s 45 years of work is spread out across area churches, businesses and homes in southwestern Minnesota and beyond. Now semi-retired, Karen has been working with Kristi Link Fernholz to have a portion of her work documented and accessible online for the public to learn from and enjoy. We’ll view a short video done by Pioneer Public TV and learn how to use the website. Karen and Kristi will be on hand to answer questions.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota thought a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
