ASI’s new afternoon series invites artists, experts and other fascinating folk to share their knowledge and insight in fellowship with the community. A new topic is explored in every session. Please join us!

Wednesday, January 10, with Ingrid Nyholm-Lange

  • Join ASI’s Associate Director of Programs and Community Engagement as she uncovers stories of the past by unpacking Anna Persson’s 1860 immigrant trunk, brought on a steamer bound for the United States. Discover more about early Swedish immigrant life by seeing what they typically brought on their journey. Imagine walking in the shoes of a Swedish immigrant in this lively trip down memory lane that is part show-and-tell and part Antiques Roadshow.

Wednesday, February 14,  Song recital with Ben Cooper and accompanist Jim Reilly.

  • As part of Ben Cooper's song recital with accompanist Jim Reilly, the pair will present songs by composers beloved in Sweden who were part of the National Romantic movement of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: Wilhelm Stenhammar, Ture Rangström, Lars-Erik Larsson, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger and Hugo Alfvén.  They will introduce each group of songs and relate them to familiar Scandinavian themes.

Cost: 
Included in museum admission. Free for ASI members. No advanced registration required.
