Wednesday, January 8: What is a Consulate?

  • Did you know that the Consulate General of Sweden in Minneapolis – one of 28 Swedish Consulates throughout the United States – is located within the offices of the American Swedish Institute? The Minneapolis Consulate serves in many ways as an extension of the Embassy in Washington D.C. and has a territory that includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa. Come hear from Consulate staff about the purpose and responsibilities of a Consulate, current local and global factors that impact consular work, and the broader vision of Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
