Wednesday, April 8: Swedish Holidays and Traditions

  • The rhythm of Swedish holidays is tied to the seasons, with many celebrations embracing the outdoors. Two examples – Påsk (Easter) and Valborg (Walpurgis Eve) – are just around the corner, both with major outdoor components for Swedish families to enjoy. Come and learn a little about the history of these two holidays as well as how the Swedes celebrate them with Jessica Karlsson, a current ASI language instructor who grew up in Hyltebruk (Småland), Sweden. We will also cover other holidays to understand why and how we celebrate them, as well as touch upon why certain foods are staples at the table for these celebrations.

Afternoons at ASI 2020 schedule:

Included in museum admission. No registration required.
