CANCELLED Nordic Craft Workshop: Improvisational Hand Quilting, Intergenerational Edition

Saturday, October 19, 2019 - 10:00am to 5:00pm

Have you wanted to start quilting, but haven’t made the plunge to outfit a whole sewing studio? Or maybe you’ve tried traditional quilting and you never quite made it to through all the steps? It’s time to try improvisational hand quilting, a creative process that doesn’t require equipment and is accessible to anyone. Students will learn the basics of hand quilting and some guidelines to create an “arrangement” for your totally unique patchwork top. Using the techniques developed by Sherri Lynn Wood, students will practice responding to the patchwork in front of you, and will leave with an in-progress or finished quilt top and the confidence to tackle more projects in the future!

This class, held over MEA weekend, is open to all students but especially designed for intergenerational pairs or groups – a great activity for teenagers 13 and up and parents, grandparents or other important adults to work side-by-side while learning something new.

Students should bring their own fabric in colors or patterns they love.

An additional $12 materials fee is payable to the instructor.

Registration recommended by October 11
