Cocktails at the Castle 2019

Cocktails at the Castle

Friday, September 13, 2019 - 7:00pm to 11:00pm

The American Swedish Institute's signature “museum party done right,” is about to get wild – embark on an adventure inspired by The Vikings Begin exhibition and "ragnaROCK" the night away at the Castle. Awards will be given for the guest with the best Viking costume - so come in full regalia!

A line-up of local female vocal powerhouses will provide a feast for your ears. The haunting Half Tramp, a 2019 City Pages "Picked to Pop" artist, leads off with her "gift for mood-making rarely found in the local ranks." Twin Cities’ favorite Monica LaPlante brings her brand of garage rock/pop loaded with class and charm. Aby Wolf, one of the most highly regarded vocalists in the Midwest and frequent collaborator with such notables as Dessa and The New Standards, sets the nocturnal tone. At the end of the evening, come inside for a dance party fueled by DJ power-duo Pink Rink.

Get your Viking on with rune carving demonstrations, Falconry 101 with the Raptor Center, live ale-bowl turning and more! Plus, keep your eye out for pop-up performances throughout the night including those by Parker Genné's Folktopia and O’Shea Irish Dance.

Here's the program for the evening!

  • Swedish Burger – juniper spiced, brown gravy, dill pickle, lingonberry mustard, brioche bun
