VocalEssence Finlandia Forever concerts at 4 and 7 p.m.

Tervetuloa! Välkommen! Minneapolis welcomes FinnFest USA 2017, commemorating 100 years of Finland as a nation state, a special series of events which runs this year September 21 – 24 in the Twin Cities. Yhdessä/Together, the theme of Finland 100, guides this year’s encounter with Finland and Finnish America.  Check their website for program and ticket information at

Organizations including the American Swedish Institute, Orchestra Hall, Norway House, Cedar Cultural Center and VocalEssence are all collaborating for the four-day celebration.

On September 24, ASI is the site for the Final Celebration and Family Day which will combine many Finnish-related activities from crafts and music, to books and dancing.  More details will be announced as they are confirmed.

A special highlight will be two all-Finnish Finlandia Forever choral music concerts at 4 and 7 p.m., featuring the VocalEssence singers with some very special guests.

  • VocalEssence Ensemble Singers
  • Osmo Vänskä, clarinet
  • Sara Pajunen, fiddle

While the land of the midnight sun has long been known for refreshingly bright ideas—from saunas to cell phones—its musical contributions are equally innovative. Favorite Finns Osmo Vänskä and Sara Pajunen will help us celebrate 100 years of Finnish independence, performing music of Sibelius, Rautavaara, Mäntyjärvi, Saariaho, and others. Catch “Finn Fever” and join in with a chorus of Sibelius’s Finlandia. Presented in partnership with Vocal Essence and national FinnFest USA.

Concert tickets are $40. To purchase, visit VocalEssence online.
