First Look: The Vikings Begin

The Vikings are coming...

Mark your calendars: Tickets for First Look go on sale April 1 for ASI members and April 8 for the general public. 

A collection of 1400-year-old artifacts from the early Viking Age is traveling from Scandinavia to Minneapolis. Be there on the opening night of the highly anticipated exhibit, The Vikings Begin, for the First Look preview party! 

In addition to being the Midwest premiere of the exhibition, the party will also include: 

  • Mini lectures by Professor Neil Price from Uppsala University (the researcher behind many of the new findings on Viking society) and Icelandic Saga scholar Gísli Sigurðsson from the University of Iceland, Reykjavik
  • Music by Moon Ruin  
  • Mead tastings with Urban Forage Winery and Cider House
  • Skål songs and spontaneous Viking long dances led by Kari Tauring 
  • Live ale bowl turning with local woodturner Nate White – watch him work and buy a bowl to drink beer out of!
  • Themed food and beverages available for purchase from FIKA

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and event runs from 7-10 p.m.
