All Saints Day – Tour Lakewood Cemetery

All Saints’ Day is a time of remembrance in Sweden when families light candles on gravesites, leave flowers and share stories to honor the memory of loved ones.

Join ASI on this day to honor Swan and Christina Turnblad and other notable Swedes. On board a vintage city bus provided by the Minnesota Transportation Museum, travel to Lakewood Cemetery for a walking tour to visit the final resting place of our founders. Also, visit the grave sites of Hjalmar Peterson (singer and comedian from Sweden, stage name: Olle i Skratthult), and Alfred Lind (who established a Swedish community in Cuba).

There will be a candle lighting ceremony and the opportunity to lay flowers on graves. In the tradition of All Saints Day, The tour leaves from the ASI at 2600 Park Avenue and begins with a late-afternoon fika with coffee and pastries from Fika Café.  Please dress for the weather and be physically able to walk to the grave site from the bus.
