Great Makers Exchange Workshop: Kolrosing

Saturday, August 18, 2018 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Great Makers Exchange 2018

Long ago, people discovered that if they scratched patterns into wood and filled the scratches with dirt, the patterns would magically appear. Eventually the common use of coal dust gave the technique the name kolrosing, or “coal writing.” This introductory workshop will teach basic kolrosing techniques: preparing the surface, laying out a design, using a kolrosing knife, and burnishing your finished piece – all while decorating a simple wooden cooking spoon.

Ages 12 and up welcome to register.

Materials Fee

A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the beginning of the class.
