Green Woodcarving 102 with Josh Torkelson

Sunday, September 13, 2020 - 1:00pm

This workshop takes place Sundays, September 13, 20, and 27, 1-4 pm.

Have you caught the carving bug and eager to dive in a little deeper? Learn foundational skills for working with fresh cut green wood with traditional hand tools in this workshop. This class is perfect for students who have had just a taste of woodcarving but aspire to begin a woodcarving practice at home. From discussions about safe tool use and acquiring green wood, to contemplation on design and decoration, this four part class will offer an excellent foundation to any aspiring or emerging woodworker who’s looking for a more peaceful, reflective, and easily portable form of working with this sustainable material. Possible projects will include wall hooks and cooking spoons, among others.

This class is designed to be a perfect next step for students who have taken ASI’s Green Woodcarving 101 class or have otherwise dabbled in green woodwork or carving. Students need some hand strength and flexibility to take part in this course. Students are encouraged to provide their own tools.

This class will meet for socially distant sessions outside at ASI (weather dependent) and online if needed due to weather.
