Introduction to the History of Sweden

Wednesday, July 15, 2020 - 6:00pm
Registration for this program opens on March 30.

This class meets for 6 Wednesdays beginning July 15 from 6-8 p.m.

Starting with the natural bounty of Sweden and how these natural resources fostered the Swedish people, continuing through the often-violent struggles as Swedes formed a national identity, and ending with the reluctant creation of a highly democratic and egalitarian state, this class will present the history of Sweden and the Swedish people. This is the story of the people and events that led to modern Sweden’s unique political and economic systems and what makes Sweden among the most innovative and entrepreneurial countries in the world today.

Handouts and course materials will be provided in class.
