American's Swedish Institute's Christmas Market and Festival
- New this year: Julmarknad Preview Party on Friday, December 6
- Saturday, December 7, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Sunday, December 8, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Julmarknad is ASI’s holiday market and festival – and one of our most popular weekends! There will be handmade items for sale by more than 55 talented local and regional artists – including distinctive artisan glass, clothing, wood, jewelry, ceramics and textiles. Our own ASI Museum Store and Jul Shop will also be open for gift seekers to browse more Nordic-inspired items.
The celebration continues throughout the Mansion with special performances by Nordic music and dance groups. Families can make handcraft projects to take home and enjoy holiday story time. FIKA will serve festival-style food on both days, and be sure to stop by their bake sale for cardamom bread, cookies and other treats to share over the holidays.
The official book launch of A to Zäåö: Playing with History at the American Swedish Institute (University of Minnesota Press) also takes place during Julmarknad. This special picture book brings to life 29 objects from ASI’s collection through watercolor drawings and ink illustrations by local artists Tara Sweeney and Nate Christopherson. The book also inspired the upcoming ASI exhibition extra/ordinary which opens with the First Look preview party on February 28. Purchase your copy and meet the book’s creators!
Please note: FIKA Café and Museum Store hours change to match festival hours on this weekend.
Julmarknad ticket price includes admission to the museum. Buy tickets at the door (no pre-registration).
$15 adults, $10 seniors, $6 children ages 6-18, free for children 5 and under and for ASI members.
