Announcing Lillalag!

This is a special opportunity for young players of stringed instruments, and the young-at-heart to join the group and learn traditional Swedish tunes. Led by members of the ASI Spelmanslag, the course runs for four Sunday afternoons this fall.

Four Sundays:

  • Sunday, October 1, 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 8, 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 15, 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 22, 1 - 3 p.m.

Learn a new tune each week, the history of the music and how it is living on and thriving in Sweden today.

No age requirements. Folk music is best learned by ear. This will be our approach.

Please bring your own instrument, as they will not be provided. Younger players should have some proficiency on their instruments. Course material will be tailored to the skill level.

Instruction provided by master musician Paul Dahlin and other members of the ASI Spelmanslag.

Registration encouraged, but not required.

Cost:
FREE! There is no cost for this course. Learning CDs and other materials will be provided free of charge. Our hope is to share our love for this rich musical tradition with a new generation here at the American Swedish Institute.
