Lost Conquest – Film Viewing & Q&A with the Director

Wednesday, August 14, 2019 - 6:00pm

Enjoy a free viewing of Lost Conquest and stay for a discussion with the film’s creator, local documentary filmmaker Mike Scholtz.

About the film:

Lost Conquest is a comedic documentary by Minnesota filmmaker Mike Scholtz that tackles the serious issue of Viking lore in Minnesota with a lighthearted approach that engages audiences in unexpected ways. Scholtz uses comedy and stories about the Vikings in Minnesota to raise questions about faith and historical accuracy set against the backdrop of what he has dubbed “The Lost Conquest of the Viking Age!” Is it better to get history right than to tell a good story? Does anyone care? Because interpretations of Viking culture are alive and well in Minnesota, where you can dress like a Viking, eat like a Viking or play like a Viking. Welcome to Minnesota.

About the director:

Mike Scholtz is a documentary filmmaker based in northern Minnesota. His last film, Wicker Kittens, premiered at SXSW. His first feature, Wild Bill's Run, screened at some really nice festivals like Banff, Big Sky and Hot Springs. He also helped establish the world's first film-festival-in-a-barn, the Free Range Film Festival, near Duluth, Minnesota.
