Nordic Craft Workshop: Intro to Indigo Dyeing with Maddy Bartsch

Saturday, June 29, 2019 - 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Does the world of natural dyeing intrigue you while at the same time leave you wondering how it all works and where to begin? While seemingly complex from the outside, the world of natural dyeing is a lot like baking, where if you have the right recipe, you can achieve consistent results and replicate it for a lifetime.

Indigo, one of the best-known natural dyes, is a fun, unique and accessible way to get started. Join Maddy Bartsch for this day-long workshop where you’ll create an organic indigo dye vat to dye textiles of your choice brought from home, as well as a dry leaf vat to dye organic cotton bandanas. Students will leave with a new understanding of the indigo plant, dyeing process and ways to decorate and reuse clothing and textiles! Open to ages 15 and up.

An additional $15 materials fee is payable to the instructor.
