Nordic Craft Workshop: Nordic Herbals to Celebrate the Sun

Taking inspiration from Nordic herbal traditions, spend a day exploring the medicinal herbs and wild foods at the heart of the summer season. This one-day workshop is grounded in both modern understandings of herbal medicine and the Norse mythology and oral traditions of Sunna, the Norse Sun goddess and healer. Using seasonal plants embodying sun and fire elements, students will make three herbal preparations to take home: Fireweed Flower Essence, Swedish Herbal Bitters, and a Norse Mugwort Bundle.

Minimum age 13; must be registered alongside an adult.

A $25 materials fee is payable to the instructor.

Nordic Herbals is new a series of workshops that transmit the ancestral medicines and healing traditions of Scandinavia through hands-on projects and discussion.

Instructor Gigi Stafne MH, ND is a nationally known educator and writer on natural and botanical medicines, and has led the Green Wisdom School of Natural and Botanical Medicine for more than three decades. One of her passions is sharing the healing traditions of her Scandinavian ancestry, transported here to the Upper Midwest. From the classroom to the forests, fields, and wetlands, Gigi shares her green wisdom about the plants.
