Nordic Craft Workshop: Shaving Horse Service Learning Workshop

Friday, February 22, 2019 - 5:00pm

This class takes place over 3 days: Friday, Feb. 22 from 5-7 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 23 & Sunday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Shaving horses are useful tools for any woodcarver’s workshop; come and help ASI create a set for woodcarving classes while learning about choosing the best design for your own shop! In this weekend-long course, students will build a classroom set of sturdy shaving horses with heads suited for spoon carving, bowl carving and other projects. Instructors Paul Linden, Rose Holdorf, and Skyler Hawkins will share thoughts about design considerations, sourcing materials, the construction process, and how to best use your own shaving horse in discussions and demonstrations throughout the weekend. This is a great opportunity for newer woodworkers to gain the skills and confidence they need to go home and build a shaving horse of their own, or for more experienced woodworkers to pick up some tips and lend a hand to ASI’s latest studio classroom project.

Cost:
$160 ASI members / $185 non-members
