Nordic Table Workshop: Karelian Pastries

Join Soile Anderson and Patrice Johnson to explore a classic Finnish pastry, karjalanpiirakka. These delicious pastries from the Karelian region of Finland combine a thin rye pastry with a creamy rice filling and a savory egg-butter topping. Often described as the national dish of Finland, these pastries are loved as a breakfast or light lunch, and they make a unique summer brunch or a great picnic. This will be a hands-on class with lots of opportunities to practice shaping techniques, and you’re sure to pick up tricks that will make these sometimes tricky pastries an easy and inviting project!

This event will be held at the Lake Calhoun Whole Foods Market Teaching Kitchen.
