Scandinavian Wooden Figure Carving – Classes Begin Week of Sept. 9

Monday, September 9, 2019 - 10:00am

Have you ever wanted to carve your own tomtar, trolls or maybe even a family member? Figures carved out of wood in the flat plane style are an iconic folk art readily accessible to both new and more experienced carvers. These weekly courses meet fall and spring with longtime wood carving instructor Bill Jaeger, who guides students through carving his original designs with plenty of individual attention.

Six weekly class sessions are offered, and each class meets two hours per week through the week of December 9, with a break the week of Thanksgiving. Students must provide their own carving tools (also available for purchase from the instructor) and purchase wooden carving blanks in class. Students must have good hand strength and dexterity – if you can open a pickle jar, you can carve!
