A long time ago, or maybe it was just yesterday, Josephine searched for adventure beyond her family’s mill – climbing trees, bathing in the river and playing by the edge of the forest. When she is forced to make her own path in the world, the darkness of uncertainty is terrifying. Josephine must find the strength to trust the unknown. Will she listen to the inner guides of earth, wind, water and fire?
Silver Hands asks how we learn to make wise choices. Can the witches, wizards and wise ones of the woods teach us not to fear the unknown? Josephine is faced with questions like “How am I in the world and what stories do I hold?”
Join Parker Genné and her intergenerational Folktopia band for the release of their new work/concept album: Silver Hands, part 1, recorded live at the American Swedish Institute. The performance will be followed by a virtual discussion with the audience and artistic team. An ASL interpreter will be provided for the artist discussion and Q&A session. All ages and abilities welcome!
Look for Silver Hands full album release in Spring 2021, in support of the larger work Silver Hands, originally conceived as a new multidisciplinary performance in collaboration and development with the American Swedish Institute and Ebenezer Park Apartments for Fall 2020.
