SOLD OUT Nordic Table Workshop: The Ostkaka

Wednesday, January 30, 2019 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Dive into a slightly obscure but delicious regional Swedish specialty, the ostkaka. While directly translated as “cheesecake,” this baked dairy pudding is unlike any cheesecake you’ve probably tried – sweet, creamy and not too heavy. Rennet is the secret ingredient that separates the milk into curds and whey; the curds then form the basis of our cake, which is baked and served with berries or a fruit sauce.

Special guest (and ASI CEO) Bruce Karstadt will join Nordic Table instructor Patrice Johnson to share his family’s relationship with ostkaka, as well as the story of why this humble dessert has its own fan club, Ostkakans vänner. Bruce and Patrice will share both a traditional and a modern take on the ostkaka, a delicious dessert that can take us from deep winter to high summer.
