SOLD OUT Virtual Nordic Handcraft Workshop: Visible Darning with Maddy Bartsch

Wednesday, February 17, 2021 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

February's workshop is sold out, but Maddy is offering another session on March 11

Get ready to tackle the knit items in your mending pile! This class will walk you through the process of darning – using a needle and thread to repair knit garments – and encourage you to show off your mend. We'll cover basic darning concepts and techniques with ample time for practice and any questions. Your sweaters and socks will thank you! Students may also be interested in our Visible Mending Workshop (for woven clothing) on January 21.

This is a live virtual class taught over Zoom. Students need a strong internet connection and a device with video capabilities.

Kits ($15) are included in the class fee. Each kit includes darning needles, needle threaders, fabric pencil and small ruler. Students must also provide items to mend, thread to match their items and scissors. A darning egg, small embroidery hoop and thimble are optional. Kits will be available for pick up at the American Swedish Institute February 11-14, or can be shipped for an additional $5 fee. Registration for kit-based classes closes one week in advance on February 10.

This is a participatory class and spots are intentionally limited to allow interaction between students and the instructor. This time is sold out, but another class is being held March 11.
