SOLD OUT Virtual Nordic Handcraft Workshop: Willow Nests with Christine Hoffman

Wednesday, March 24, 2021 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Just in time for spring, look to Christine Hoffman for a sweet project to decorate your table with local flora – maybe even before the crocuses make an appearance! Christine, a floral designer who works with local and seasonal flora, will set you up with a kit of materials harvested from Minnesota’s later winter landscape to create a small willow nest. You’ll admire several different varieties of willow as you discuss and learn to work with this useful plant. Your finished nest will be perfect for displaying alone or with your own special decorative eggs, Easter or otherwise.

This is a live virtual class taught over Zoom. Students need a strong internet connection and a device with video capabilities.

Kits are included in the class fee ($15 value). Each kit includes locally harvested natural materials and twine for one small nest. Students must also provide snips or scissors suitable for cutting plant material. Kits will be available for pick up at the American Swedish Institute the weekend before class (March 19-21) during open hours, or can be shipped for an additional $10 fee. Registration for kit-based classes closes one week in advance on March 17.

This is a participatory class and spots are intentionally limited to allow interaction between students and the instructor. Please call 612-871-4907 to be added to a waitlist.
