While marmalade isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when we say “Nordic Table,” Scandinavians definitely love their preserves, and marmalade is a great winter project. Join Heidi Skoog, proprietor of St. Paul-based preserving business Serious Jam, to try your hand at making marmalade at home. While some marmalades can take a couple of days to make, this Meyer Lemon marmalade project can be accomplished in an afternoon! From the comfort of your own kitchen, we'll cook together and learn all about the happiness that comes from making your very own marmalades. Students will have plenty for breakfasts, fika or sharing with friends and family all year long.
This is a live virtual class taught over Zoom. Students need a strong internet connection and a device with video capabilities.
This class offers an optional kit for $20 (available for pick up only), or students may purchase everything they need themselves. Each kit includes fruit, sugar and jars. Students must also provide a wide stockpot or deep saucepan, heat proof spatula, sharp knife, measuring cups, and kitchen scale. Kits will be available for pick up at the American Swedish Institute on February 26 and February 27. Registration for kit-based classes closes one week in advance on February 20.
This is a participatory class and spots are intentionally limited to allow interaction between students and the instructor. Please call 612-871-4907 to be added to a waitlist.
