Starting with Slöjd: Tell a story with puppets!

Sunday, October 14, 2018 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Join us for a new monthly program for early elementary children who are ready to start crafting! Whether we’re playing with wool, wire, clay or more, we’ll explore new tools, materials and skills that prepare kids for a lifelong love of handcraft, or slöjd. Programs suitable for students in grades K-3.

In Tell a story with puppets!, budding puppeteers will create whimsical hand puppets to tell a story about the residents of Tova Jansson’s Moominvalley.

Other Starting with Slöjd dates:

  • September 16: Start weaving! – Young students will learn basic weaving techniques while making a small colorful mat using yarn and paper plates.
  • November 11: Finger weaving fun – Try out finger weaving to make a necklace, toy snake or other creature, then play with our floor tapestry loom.
  • December 9: Beeswax candle – Wrap sheets of beeswax around a cotton wick to make a candle while learning about the story of St. Lucia.
Cost:
$10 ASI members / $15 non-members
