Swedish Food History through the Kitchen Garden – A Virtual Talk with Richard Tellström

Wednesday, June 10, 2020 - 1:00pm

Join Richard Tellström  ASI friend and one of Sweden’s foremost scholars of Swedish food history  for this virtual lecture!

Just in time for our short growing seasons, Richard will examine the history of the Swedish kitchen garden through the centuries, and its impact on the core flavors of Sweden’s northern kitchens. From urban allotment gardens to hipsters, changes in gardening practices and trends highlight interesting transformations in the Swedish diet and flavors. You may even be surprised to learn that some classic Swedish ingredients and dishes are relatively recent additions to the Swedish table! This program will take place over Zoom and will leave time for a short Q&A after the lecture.
