Virtual Nordic Handcraft Lecture: Harvesting and Processing Home Grown Dyestuffs with Maddy Bartsch

Wednesday, August 18, 2021 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Have you caught the natural dye bug? If you’re new to growing natural dye plants in your home garden, one of the tricky parts is knowing when and how to harvest your precious blooms, leaves and roots, as well as how to process and store them for using immediately or later. Join natural dye grower Maddy Bartsch to hear about the processes she uses for some common dye plants while she answers your questions. Even if you haven’t intentionally added dye plants in your garden, tune in to gather inspiration for the next growing season – you may be surprised at the natural dye plant bounty all around! This class will focus on dye plants common to the upper Midwest, but much of the information will be applicable more widely.
