Virtual Nordic Handcraft Lecture: Plan a Dye Garden with Maddy Bartsch

Saturday, March 20, 2021 - 2:00pm to 3:30pm

Are you interested in learning about growing dye plants for naturally dyeing yarn, fabric and other textiles at home? In this class, we will walk through the basics of growing dye plants in your own home garden – including how to choose and acquire dye plants, lay out a garden and make a planting plan, and prepare it for growing. In particular, instructor Maddy Bartsch will emphasize regenerative growing practices that keep your garden happy! This lecture-style class will allow plenty of time to answer questions and set students on a path to start planning a garden based on their natural dye goals. You’ll be ready to dive deeper into both gardening and natural dyeing this growing season! This class will emphasize plants suitable for the Upper Midwest, but the foundational ideas can be applied anywhere.
