Virtual Nordic Handcraft Workshop: Decorative Paper Quilling with Kayla Ann

Wednesday, March 3, 2021 - 6:30pm

This class meets online Wednesdays March 3 & 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. both days

Dive deeper into paper quilling, a centuries-old paper craft technique that results in intricate designs to display or gift. This class is perfect for students who have tried a little paper quilling and are interested in building their skills, or are ready to put more time into getting started from scratch.

The first class will focus on building a foundation of the history, tools and possibilities for paper quilling. Students will then get started on building paper shapes to create their first designs. Over the next week, students may work further on their projects before rejoining the whole group for a second chance to share, troubleshoot and continue working on more advanced techniques.

This is a live virtual class taught over Zoom. Students need a strong internet connection and a device with video capabilities.

Kits ($15 value) are included in the class fee. Each kit includes two quilling tools, mini glue tube and enough cardstock and pre-cut quilling paper for several projects. Students must also provide scissors or an x-acto knife and cutting mat. Kits will be available for pick up at the American Swedish Institute February 25-28, or can be shipped for an additional $5 fee. Registration for kit-based classes closes one week in advance on February 24.
