Virtual Nordic Handcraft Workshop: Faroese Knitted House Slippers with Laura Ricketts

This class meets online Saturdays January 16 & 23 from 1-3 p.m. each day

Tackle a unique knitting project from the Faroe Islands while learning new skills in this multi-session virtual class.

Skóleistar are the woolen soft shoe liner from the Faroe Islands, traditionally worn inside wooden clogs or rain shoes, but also doubling as a cozy house slipper. In this class, we will explore some of the knitting traditions of the Faroe Islands, and choose among two charted designs to make our own pair of skóleistar. This project is recommened for intermediate to advanced knitters; students should be comfortable with color work and working in the round.

This is a live virtual class taught over Zoom. Students need a strong internet connection and a device with video capabilities.

This class requires students to provide their own materials. Please see the materials list below. Registration includes pattern ($8 value), which will be provided before class.
