VIRTUAL Nordic Table Demo: Knäckebröd at Home with Erin Swenson-Klatt

Get ready for the holidays by baking your own knäckebröd this year! Knäckebröd, or crisp bread, is a staple of the Swedish diet. While it is typically purchased from a store these days, the holidays are definitely one time in the year when Swedes mix, knead, roll and bake their own knäckebröd.

In this class, we’ll demonstrate how to make a very thin, home-style knäckebröd with a mix of rye and wheat flours – quick and easy enough to make in about an hour. Join us to bake alongside (students will receive recipes in advance), or just watch and tackle this project after class. History, adaptations/ customization and storage will all be discussed. And, yes, we’ll also practice pronouncing this tricky Swedish word!

Recordings of our virtual, demo-based workshops are shared after class, so if you can’t attend at the scheduled time, you may still sign up and receive a recording to watch at your leisure.

This class is suitable for kids and teens to follow along at home with an adult.
