Richard Tellström - Swedish Food Culture from the Viking Age to the Present Day

In this new ASI afternoon series, held the second Wednesday of each month in Paulson Hall, we invite artists, experts and other fascinating folk to share their stories, knowledge and insight with the community.

Don't miss this chance to meet Richard Tellström, ASI's charming and informative food historian-in-residence during November. He is a professor of Food History at Stockholm University and a lecturer at Örebro University where he teaches at the School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Meal Science.

Join us for the afternoon when Richard will share his substantial knowledge regarding “Swedish Food Culture from the Viking Age to the Present Day.”

He will offer an historical review of every day food and festive food and regional variations, as well as information about Swedish bread and its importance to the culture. He'll talk about how food storage management, cooking techniques and common products have evolved over different historical periods and how the immigration period of 1850-1920 impacted food traditions.

FREE for ASI members. $10 non-member adult, $7 ages 62+, $5 ages 6-18 and students with ID;
