Sweden advances in World Cup soccer!

Join us and other Swedish/soccer fans at the American Swedish Institute to view the Sweden vs England match on Saturday morning, July 7. The game begins at 9 a.m. CST.  All viewers (regardless of the outcome of the game) are invited to visit the Mansion FREE after the game is over to see The Fantastical Worlds of Kim Simonsson exhibition (which closes July 15)

Plan your Morning

  • Pre-game - Dress in your yellow and blue!
  • 8:30 a.m.  - Doors open. Get your orders in at FIKA which will serving Bloody Swedes (our award-winning version of the Bloody Mary) and other adult beverages, as well as coffee, pastries and egg tarts - with the full menu starting at 11 a.m.
  • 8:45 a.m. - Get fired up! Learn the Swedish chant and official song "Put your Hands up for Sweden"
  • 9:00 a.m. - The ASI Museum store opens - and will be selling Swedish T Shirts and mini-flags.
  • 9:00 a.m.  - Game On!

Things to Know and Do

  • The viewing will held on a big screen upstairs in Larson Hall, with a beverage service cart conveniently located on the terrace.
  • This is also a kids/family friendly viewing. Larson Hall has room in the back to roam around for the restless. We will also have the Play Cart outside in the courtyard, complete with a soccer ball! FIKA serves kids beverages including milk (yes, there's chocolate) juices and other items.
