ASI Summer Day Camps

ASI’s Summer Day Camp Program

Our day camps are tailored for young minds ages 6 – 10. Through story-telling, cooking, art and imaginative play, children will have fun exploring Minneapolis’ only castle while learning about Nordic history and culture. Campers are asked to bring their own lunch and wear clothes suitable for outdoor play. Registration required one week before camp start date. Cost: $50 ASI member child per session / $60 non-member child per session. Extended care options are available for each camp.

Registration opens at 10 a.m. on March 2.

Pippi Day Camp

The world’s favorite red-headed heroine is the inspiration for this day of adventure! Campers are encouraged to dress like Pippi or her friends.

Viking Day Camp

Sail away to the world of the Vikings. Learn about Viking mythology, forge your own weapons and discover the mystery of runestones – all while having fun!

Sommar På Slottet (Swedish Immersion Camp)

Travel to Sweden for a day in this immersive language camp experience! Campers will have fun expanding their Swedish skills while journeying to different regions of Sweden where they will explore customs and culture through cooking, games, craft and movement. Swedish language instruction is embedded in activities throughout out day, and all levels of Swedish learners are welcome.


Multi-Date / Specialty Camps

ASI offers multi-date camps for children of a range of ages. The cost of these camps vary. Please see their individual descriptions for more information.

The Amazing World of Astrid Lindgren Preschool Camp

During this three-week camp, children ages 3 – 5 can join other preschoolers while socializing in a nurturing environment. We will use hands-on inquiry-based learning to experience the charming worlds and bold characters created by Astrid Lindgren including Pippi Longstocking, Emil in Lönneberga, Lotta and more. Daily activities include circle time, crafts, storytime, games, snack and exploration.

Handcraft Camp

Calling all crafty kids! In this four-day camp, young makers (ages 8 – 12) will work with paper, textiles, mosaics, nature, wood and felt to create fun and useful objects. Campers will leave with handmade items and new skills.

Swedish Cooking & Culture Camp

Don your aprons as we spend four days exploring Swedish cooking and culture! Each day will focus on how Swedes eat, celebrate and create during each unique season. Open to children ages 8 – 12.
