Museum Admission Access Programs

ASI strives to be a gathering place for all people. Recognizing that museums and cultural institutions come with a complex mix of barriers to audience participation, ASI participates in multiple access programs to deepen engagement and build community.

Note: During COVID-19, all visits require advanced registration. Many of these access programs are still available, but require registration via phone. Please call the front desk to reserve museum admission with special pricing. 612-871-4907.

ASI Guest Pass or ASI Family Pass

  • This pass provides free admission for a visitor or entire family. Passes are given out to neighbors, as tokens of thanks, or to those that need recognition.

Museums for All

  • Museums for All is a national, branded access program that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. This program provides free admission to qualifying individuals and their dependents during regular ASI hours.  Fees for any special programs, events, or exhibits are not included. EBT cards are not accepted as payment. To qualify for Museums for All, you must be enrolled in one of the programs listed below. Simply show the approved documentation along with proof of residency at the same address as the benefit recipient. 

    TANF (temporary assistance for needy families), MFIP (MN family Investment Program), SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program), MFAP (MN Food Assistance Program), WIC (Women, Infants, and Children Program, MN Headstart, General Assistance, Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Benefits, Food Stamps / EBT Card, RCA card (Refugee Cash Assistance), Section 8, Free/Reduced Price School Meals

Caregiver Pass

  • ASI provides free admission to those who are here to serve others. Adults and Youth that require assistance to experience the museum do not pay to bring their PCA, interpreter, or other caregivers.

Membership Pass

smARTpass

  • This arts access program is available exclusively to metro public library users. Anyone with a library card from one of the eight public library systems in the Twin Cities can find opportunities to reserve free and/or discounted admission to a wide range of arts experiences. ASI offers free admission to the museum during select exhibits or discounts to programs. You can visit the smARTPass website for more information.

Blue Star Discount

  • Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America. ASI provides free museum admission to US military employees, veterans, and their families.

IKEA Family Pass

  • All children under age 18 receive free admission with the purchase of adult or senior admission. IKEA contributes to the sponsorship of the Youth & Family Gallery.
