Groups of all types and sizes are invited to visit ASI’s awe-inspiring campus that boasts the best of the old and the new.
Experience Minneapolis’ first private residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and discover internationally acclaimed exhibitions travelling from the Nordic region. 

We recommend booking your group tour a minimum of 10 days in advance.

Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays: 10 a.m.

Our personal and knowledgeable guides will take your group on a colorful journey through the exhibit Gudrun Sjödén — A Colourful Universe.

See Gudrun's original watercolors, archival constructed catalogs, and explore her creative process and design philosophies through this visually striking exhibition experience.

Group tour participants leave with a Gudrun Sjödén designed cloth bag and an exhibition catalog, included in the cost. 

Historic House Tours
The Turnblad Mansion 

Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays: 11:30 a.m.  

Your group tour includes a guided experience through the exquisite 33-room Turnblad Mansion. Hear the stories behind the detailed woodcarvings, ornate Swedish ceramic stoves (kakelugnar) and the architectural vision of this castle-like mansion. Learn about the Turnblad family who lived in the Mansion from 1908-1929 and then donated the building to become what is now ASI.

Nordic Holiday Rooms

November 14 to January 12
Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m.

Experience one of Minneapolis’ most talked about holiday destinations, ASI’s Nordic Holiday Rooms - a celebratory exploration of Nordic holiday traditions and customs all under one roof. Explore this year’s theme, The Handmade, through the design and decoration of each room and this year’s guest the Czech American community.

Commonly Asked Questions

What days of the week and times of the day do you offer group tours?
We typically offer tours during open Museum hours on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We may be able to accommodate special requests, please contact Erin Stromgren, with inquiries.

How far in advance do I need to book my tour?
Group tours must be scheduled at least ten (10) days in advance.

Do you require a deposit for group tours, and when does the tour operator need to provide payment?
ASI requires payment in full at the time of reservation

Are group leaders and motor coach operators free of charge?
Yes, group tour leaders and motor coach operators are welcome to join their group free of charge.

Do you offer meal options for our group?
While our award-winning café, FIKA is open for table service during most Museum Hours, we recommend that you make food and beverage arrangements when you book your tour. Contact Amanda Vanderplas at

Do you offer tours in other languages than English?
Unfortunately no. While we do have some Swedish, Somali and Spanish speaking tour facilitators, we can’t guarantee they will be available to lead your tour in languages other than English. Tour groups are encouraged to hire their own translators as needed.
