Youth Handcraft Programs

While ASI continues to explore how best to reopen in a safe way, we have turned to creative new uses of the web and social media to share the joy, inspiration and community of ASI's programming. Check out our new Slöjd (Handcraft) Online Resource Page with ideas for you and your family to play and create at home!

Make something beautiful and useful in youth-only workshops!

Taking inspiration from the Swedish tradition of slöjd, or handcraft, ASI’s Youth Handcraft classes guide children and teens through making beautiful and useful objects while working with new materials. Our monthly Starting with Slöjd programs for young makers in grades K-3 while our Slöjd Klubb welcomes crafters grades 4-8 to develop skills and community.

Looking for intergenerational classes or opportunities for teens? Many of our adult programs welcome teens - please see individual course descriptions for more details. Intergenerational classes are listed below.
